Infused Honey

I was recently reading a book with a hot mug of tea and I instantly remembered that I have not shared anything about infused honey with you guys. Infused honey has been a part of my teas every night, especially in freezing weather. As much as I enjoy using this, I love making it as well (even tough it can get a little messy). I HAD to share this with you guys. Safe australian online casino sites are australia online casino sites safe to use?

Infused honey combines the benefits of the herbs/spices/flowers it has been infused with along with its own health and healing benefits for both body and skin.

I would highly recommend you to use raw organic honey. I do support brands like Pahadi local, UTMT honey & Urban Platter for their honey but I have never in my life tasted any honey like the raw honey harvested in front of me in the mountains during my last visit. It is DELICIOUS! Do try to source local honey in your area if you can.

How To Make Infused Honey?

You’ll need:-

– Half jar herbs of your choice.

– 1 jar honey

Please note that this is an approximate measure. You might need to add more honey if the herbs absorb some honey in a day or two. Also, if you are using spices like cloves/cardamom/cinnamon, you’ll only need 7-10 cloves/cardamom pods or 1 cinnamon stick.

Always use dried herbs and spices.

  1. Fill a clean glass jar halfway with dried herbs and spices.
  2. Pour in your honey and wait until the honey reaches the bottom (might take a little longer since honey is thick). Be sure that your herbs are fully submerged. Use a stick to push in the honey.
  3. Put an airtight lid on the jar and place it near a warm window. The warmth of the sun will allow the herbs to infuse into the honey.
  4. Do shake the jar every day.
  5. Let it infuse for 2-3 weeks.
  6. Strain the honey and store it in a cool, dark place.

Ways To Use Infused Honey

Infused honey has amazing fragrance and taste which totally depends on the herbs/spices you have chosen. I love drizzling this honey on my fruits and adding it to my teas. Do not add honey to your teas when they are steaming hot. Always add it when the teas have cooled down slightly.

Herbal honey has endless uses, for example, cinnamon & clove-infused honey can be used to relieve a sore throat or lavender/chamomile honey to promote relaxation. I even gulp down a tablespoon of cinnamon-clove honey whenever I catch cold.

My mum loves making roasted spicy red chilli & dried garlic infused honey in winters which is a delicious topping for a toast and sauteed veggies.

Infused honey can also be used as a face mask or you can add it to your DIY recipes/ skincare formulations. Infuse herbs like rose, lavender, chamomile, calendula in honey and your ready to use face mask is ready.

You can use any herbs/spices as per your choice. I personally love the chilli infused honey in my food and rose infused honey as a face mask.
