We’ve still got a month left before spring starts , so I wanted to share a winter sugar scrub recipe with you all that I have been using to treat myself in this weather.
Let us all agree… During winters we tend to become lazier when it comes to taking care of our body . I am the one who who lets myself go a little bit in the wintertime. My legs are unshaven for days. And I forget (read : skip) to pamper my body as much as I do in summers.
I think it is safe to say that all those layering up with sweaters and gives us a chance to forget a bit about nourishing our skin to look fresh and vibrant.
Keeping aside all the laziness, its important to give preference to personal hygiene and TLC for our legs and hands too.
To ward off the winter blues, I am using a warming sugar scrub made using some simple ingredients to buff away the dry skin.
Sugar works as a great exfoliator for the body care products to remove the dead surface skin cells and reveal the glowing-healthy looking skin underneath. Sugar also contains glycolic acid , a natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid , which can further help with exfoliation.
WARMING SUGAR BODY SCRUB FOR WINTERS
1/2 cup Sugar (I prefer brown sugar , however I was not having it at the moment)
2 tablespoons Raw Honey
3 tablespoons Cold Pressed Golden Jojoba Oil (this one)
1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
5 drops Vanilla Extract (the one you use for baking)
Mix all the ingredients in a clean & dry bowl. Transfer the scrub in a glass jar. Use a spatula to use it. This scrub can last you 2-3 months if it does not get finished before that.
Believe me , this warming sugar body scrub will smell warm & spicy , giving you the urge to use it even when you are feeling lazy to do it. The combination of vanilla and cinnamon fills the bathroom with the aroma you get when you bake something.
Jojoba oil and honey will moisturize the skin and offer amazing softness to your body.
For me , winter is all about long hot showers , hot cocoa , turmeric lattes , my relationship with cozy blanket & and some self loving rituals. On a cold dull day, I would recommend you to take out some time , light a warm scented candle in your bathroom , take handful of the warming scrub and rub it over your shoulders, down your rib cage, into your belly.This massage will reveal healthy skin from underneath while relaxing your body and mind. After you are done scrubbing , massage your body with Sesame oil (I swear by this for relaxing massages during winters because it is inherently warming. If possible, use one that is organic and untoasted.)
