Okay, this post is on a very interesting topic (at least I feel so). I will be taking you over the what, why, when and how of one of my favorite self-care practice i.e. Underarm or Armpit Detox.
Before I begin this post, I would recommend people who want to judge and spill stupid comments to please leave.
So let’s begin with this article.
We are all by now well versed in using face masks with different ingredients and ways but have you ever wondered that you need to provide TLC to your other parts of body as well? Like your underarms..?
Well, turns out you probably should. Masks for your armpits should be a part of your wellness and beauty routine. Such practice is called ARMPIT OR UNDERARM DETOX.

So armpit detox is just applying clay detox mask that you usually apply to your face on your underarms. You can even apply the detox masks available in the market (ohh, choose the one with clean ingredients) or just DIY (it’s super simple).

If you’ve been feeling sluggish, getting sick often, and/or notice tender lymph nodes, an underarm detox can improve lymphatic circulation & make you feel better! This is great for reducing armpit odor and getting rid of buildup from toxic chemical laden antiperspirants. (Source) Clay detox masks might help pull some of the chemicals out of the skin and tissue of the armpits. This can be especially helpful after years of conventional deodorant use.
Plus, pits are sensitive AF. They’re very rarely exposed to sunlight which breeds sensitivity which makes it even more important for you to include this practice in your routine
see url Few changes I noticed after doing an armpit detox every week for few months:
- improved mood (trust me it works)
- reduced odor, even without wearing any deodarant afterward
- I have few bumps there which have reduced
- reduced underarm darkness
If you have switched to using natural deodorants, do try this. It will make your natural deodarant work better.
I try to do this every Sunday but its okay if you do this detox routine twice every month.
How to do an Armpit Detox?
Usually, people just apply a clay mask with apple cider vinegar but I have added one more step i.e. using a scrub to this routine for added benefits and to allow my mask work more effectively.
Scrub your underarms gently using a mild scrub in circular motions for 2-3 minutes and wash it off using warm water.
I generally make an underarm scrub with 1 tablespoon licorice root powder, 1 tablespoon orange peel powder, 1 tablespoon ground sugar and honey. Licorice and orange powders are known for their properties to remove pigmentation and I have lots of it on my underarms. Sugar is added for its exfoliating effect and honey for moisturizing benefits.
Apply the detox mask. The usual detox mask for underarms consists of 2 tablespoons bentonite clay, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar and water to make a paste. I also like adding a pinch of charcoal to my mask. This completely natural formula harnesses the incredible power of Mother Nature to magnetically draw out toxins and impurities with ingredients such as bentonite clay, activated charcoal and apple cider vinegar.
Spread a thin layer on each armpit, leaving on for 15 minutes. Rinse off in the shower using a soft washcloth then dry the armpits thoroughly. I like to lightly moisturize with oil (but never apply coconut oil).
Do tag me if you try this.
